News from Steve

Dear Copper Mesa Community,

I am covering the office on this Tuesday afternoon, after encouraging our office staff to go for a walk on this beautiful day!! November 14th - who would have thought it would be 66 degrees!! Loving this Fall.

Our PRIDE Skill next week is: Self Direction

This week I will mention the following:

  • Veterans Day - kids reading and looking at photos

  • Choir Feeder Festival

  • All Pro Dads Breakfast

  • Look for the Good Project

VETERAN’S DAY

What a wonderful turnout we had once again for our annual Veteran’s Day celebration. I love recognizing and honoring our current military personnel and Veterans. I told several of our grade levels that these men and women are America’s true heroes. It was so cool to hear what branch of the military these men and women serve or served in, the years they served, and where they served. They have been all over the world protecting the United States of America. I also shared that my dad, who is now 92, was in the Navy during the Korean conflict. Check out the photo of some of the Veterans who joined us for lunch. A huge shout out also to our amazing Choir who sang some patriotic songs!

CHOIR FEEDER FESTIVAL

Speaking of our choir, with the leadership of Ms. Abi Muller, the boys and girls did an amazing job of singing at the feeder music festival. And just bragging a little, we had the most students in the choir than any other feeder school. So proud of our singers and a huge shout out to Ms. Muller!!

ALL PRO DADS BREAKFAST

Last call to invite all of our dads and their kiddos to our first breakfast gathering tomorrow, beginning at 7:30 am. We will spend some time eating some yummy breakfast and then some time in the book fair. Thanks to all of the dads who volunteered to arrive early or stay late to prepare and clean up from breakfast. I hope to have a cafeteria full of dads and their kiddos!!

LOOK FOR THE GOOD PROJECT

Thanks to our amazing CMEA group our school will be involved with a project called, Look for the Good. Our Student Leadership Council will lead the efforts with this project. The Look for the Good project is a two week school-wide art and writing program that helps students and teachers express gratitude for themselves, each other and the people who matter to them!! It will kick off with an assembly on Wednesday, November 29th. We will have a gratitude wall posted by our cafeteria where our staff and students and definitely you all will have the opportunity to put up a gratitude stickie!!

Speaking of gratitude - I am so thankful for all of you! I have been so fortunate to serve our community for over 7 years!!

Have the most Happiest of Thanksgivings with your loved ones!!

SSN PROJECT -

The SSN (significant support needs) students and staff are taking on a Holiday Project this season! We are collecting treats, toys and beds for the dogs at Freedom Service Dogs!

The dogs at Freedom Service Dogs are service dogs in training to support individuals with disabilities as well as individuals who are retired veterans. We are looking for donations of dog beds, dog treats and dog toys to give to this life long friend! The best part, we, the SSN program, are taking a field trip to Freedom Service Dogs in December so our students in the SSN program can meet these incredible dogs and give the dogs their gifts as well!

If you have NEW dog toys or beds and want to donate them please bring them down to the SSN room. Dog treat donations need to be unopened in order to safely give them to the dogs.

We are always accepting gently used dog beds and toys to donate to freedom service dogs :)

Thank you so much for your support!
